Proven Success in the Commercial Space

Leidos AI Factory

Sterling partnered with Dell Technologies to produce an advanced AI Factory for Leidos, a leading innovation company specializing in national defense technology. This significant project involved deploying high-performance Dell PowerEdge servers, PowerScale storage, and NVIDIA networking, optimized with Red Hat OpenShift for large-scale AI/ML workloads. Sterling’s certified engineers provided crucial onsite hardware configuration, virtualization strategy, and a comprehensive three-day training program covering hardware, NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, and OpenShift. This end-to-end solution, including system testing and knowledge transfer, showcases Sterling’s deep expertise in delivering complex, secure, and scalable AI infrastructure alongside NVIDIA product enhancements.

Health Center & Nonprofit

Sterling, in partnership with Auditsolv, provided comprehensive system design, preparation, configuration, and migration services for a federally qualified health center and nonprofit organization. Our work included configuring hosts, Hyper-V clusters, and SAN storage, alongside migrating critical virtual machines and establishing a new SFTP virtual server. A significant challenge involving incompatible Axiom network interface cards was overcome by replacing them with Dell NICs, which ultimately ensured the project’s success. The client’s workloads were successfully migrated and operated without issue, fully supporting their operational goals.

Microsoft Intune & Autopilot Services

Sterling was contacted by a commercial customer requesting assistance in creating a more efficient and current process for imaging their client devices utilizing Microsoft Intune and Autopilot. Sterling advised them through the initial setup, configuration, and fine-tuning of the imaging process. This guidance enabled the customer to achieve faster turnaround times for setting up new devices and less downtime for employees in need of a replacement device.

5G Cellular Neutral Host Ericsson Installation

A commercial client contacted Sterling with cellular complications within their office space. Our team provided a full turnkey deployment and support solution for implementing Verizon’s Customer Cell Enhancement (CCE) system onsite for the client. Sterling then worked with strategic partners for the management of all aspects of the project—including planning, coordination, hardware staging, installation, integration into Verizon’s core network, RF testing, and ensuring a fully operational system. Following the successful deployment, the customer continues to be supported through ongoing 24/7 monitoring, troubleshooting, performance management, software upgrades, and security patching to maintain system reliability and ensure continuous alignment with Verizon’s network standards.

Commercial Cloud Pricing Remediation

A commercial client utilized a cluster-based deployment for their RedHat OpenShift clusters. As they were not utilizing out-of-the-box, solutions they deployed these clusters on Azure’s Kubernetes Service (AKS). Sterling was able to work with the customer’s contracting agents and technical groups in order to validate their architecture and the pricing they were investigating as well as moving their pricing to on-demand, thereby affording them the ability to change and adjust as required for their utilization.

Incident Response Service

Sterling supported a large national retail organization following a cybersecurity incident by rapidly deploying a team of security, infrastructure, and networking specialists to stabilize and harden the customer’s environment. Our team performed security assessments aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and implemented improvements across servers, network configurations, firewalls, storage/backup platforms, and identity security—including MFA—while also strengthening VDI and VPN connectivity between their headquarters and remote locations nationwide. The engagement helped the customer quickly improve their security posture and operational resilience ahead of their critical Black Friday retail season.
