North Sioux City, S.D., April 29, 2021 – South Dakota-based IT company Sterling has achieved certification as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) by the National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC), one of three certifying bodies approved by the Small Business Administration (SBA). According to the NWBOC, “Certification ensures that a private, for-profit company is truly owned and controlled by a woman.”
This certification is accepted by more than 1,000 corporations, representing America’s most prestigious brands, in addition to federal, state, and local government agencies. The distinction was conceived to address the long history of under-representation of women in enterprise and specifically in the awarding of government contract work.
